Villa Durazzo Pallavicini and its park

Villa Durazzo Pallavicini e il parcoThe villa is situated at Pegli, in the Genovese West it is one of the best examples of those residences of noble villas that, in past centuries, were traditional locations of delight for the powerful Genovese families.
Of particular prestige is the romantic park that belongs to the villa which with its pathways surrounded by neoclassical, neogothic, and rustic architecture, bordered by palms exotic plants, oaks, and bay trees it is one of the highest expressions of romantic gardening from the 1800’s. In fact, the tour of the park that was created (1840/40) by Michele Canzio, set designer for the Carlo Felice Theatre, for the marquis Ignazio Alessandro Pallavicini, is like a theatre itinerary. In spring, the spectacular booms of the “Avenue of Camellias”.
Among the best example of residential buildings and historical parks conserved through time, it includes the Ligurian Archeological Museum and the Botanical Gardens (created in 1794) Clelia Durazzo Pallavicini.
