Paola Carrabba graduated in Natural Science at the “Federico II” University of Naples, started her career as ecologist and ornithologist in urban and semi-natural environments.

She has been interested in the applicative aspects of the biological science and her main research areas are biodiversity; nature conservation; ecosystem approach; management, conservation and valorization of environmental resources; ecological network; sustainable development and land management both in natural and anthropic environment.

From 1996 she worked with ENEA, the Italian Agency that combines aspects of technological innovation with energetic and environmental research, enlarging her field of interest.

For several years, she has been involved in the work of the scientific body (SBSTTA) of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity as an expert for the Ministry of Environment. She has collaborated with many research institutions at national and international projects on biodiversity conservation and the sustainable use of environmental resources (UNCBD-CHM, EU-CHM, CHM-ITA, SAFENUT, BIBLIOPEST, STRATOS, ENBI-ENDUSERS, INTRASPECIES, CICLOPE, EDUNatHer, WILDFLOWERS, MEDGIS; LENA_NatHer, ECOVIA, MITRACO).

Currently, she is involved in the research activities of the Technical Unit for Sustainable Development and Agro-industrial innovation, with particular attention to the ideation and implementation of sustainable development projects through the application of the ecosystem approach principles. She is skilled to problem solving, particularly in the implementation of projects involving different types of stakeholder (national and local administrations, enterprises, NGO).
