InterSus

InterSus InterSus is a small research and policy consultancy (SME). It works on economic assessments and their use for policy making as well as on strengthening in general the interface between science and policy in the field of environmental protection and related policies. Its expertise lies with the "soft", socio-economic elements of environmental assessment and policy development, with a specific focus on water management and related policy areas (soil protection, agricultural policy, rural development policy). It delivers services relevant to each step of the policy cycle with an emphasis on strategy development, evidence based policy solutions, facilitation/moderation, capacity building and evaluation and performance management. InterSus combines environmental economic expertise with multi-disciplinary policy consulting approaches in the economic, social and environmental domains. InterSus has been working for various national and international clients (including the European Commission, European Environment Agency, World Bank, OECD, WWF, UN-organisations, Environment Ministries etc.). Some of its recent projects include a study on land pricing / taxes as an instrument to shape land use patterns in Europe (for the EEA), supporting the implementation of the economic aspects of the Water Framework Directive-WFD in the Neretva Basin/BiH (for the WWF), supporting the compliance checking methodology for the first River Basin Management Plans according to the WFD (for the European Commission, DG Environment), developing a first estimation of the ecosystem values of the Guinea Current Large Marine Ecosystem (for the UNIDO) etc.

BC3Basque Center for Climate Change (BC3) is a non-for-profit research association/center, established in 2008; the associate members are Ikerbasque (Basque Foundation for Science), Ihobe (Basque Agency of Environment) and University of the Basque Country. The BC3 contribute to long-term research on the causes and consequences of climate change, including the impacts on water systems, in order to foster the creation of knowledge in this multidisciplinary science. The BC3 promotes a highly-qualified team of researchers with the primary objective of achieving excellence in research, training and dissemination. The applied methods and analytical tools serve to widen the frontiers of human scientific knowledge to become a world-wide reference in climate change research.

Universidad Politécnica de Madrid is the oldest and largest Spanish technical university, with more than 4.000 faculty members, around 38.000 undergraduate students and 6.000 postgraduates in 21 Schools of study. The Research Centre for the Management of Agricultural and Environmental Risks ( CEIGRAM ) was set up pursuant to an agreement signed between UPM, ENESA and AGROMUTUA-MAVDA, thus constituting a research, development and innovation instrument dedicated to dissemination and training in the field of environmental and agricultural risk analysis. CEIGRAM has 29 doctorate researchers, 8 senior, non-doctorate researchers, 10 junior researchers and a further three members of staff who provide administrative, secretarial and IT support.
