Aim:
The overall objective of this two-year project is to assist efforts to improve resilience of communities in flood prone areas.
The main objectives are:
• to convey the concept of resilience to decision makers, flood managers and the general public, and help to translate resilience concepts into flood management practices;
• to identify important factors of flood resilience as well as strategies and measures that increase flood resilience;
• to identify quick wins (simple but effective measures) to enhance flood resilience on case study level;
• to provide guidance on the integration of flood resilience in flood risk management as a contribution to the implementation of the Flood Risk Directive (FRD);
• to convey project results to the policy level, as well as to the scientific community.
In the end the following products will be available:
• Document presenting guidelines on enhancing resilience;
• Brochure about the possible quick wins by implementing the resilience guidelines;
• Policy briefings concerning the policy lessons learned and recommendations;
• Project leaflet;
• International workshop for experts and authorities.
